Congratulations to our electrical apprentice, Marco Otto, on winning First Year Apprentice of the Year at the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) Apprentice Awards WA.

Since joining ESI Tech Group in April 2021, Marco has gained valuable skills and experience working alongside and learning from our senior electricians and tradespeople.

He performs a range of tasks for various companies in the mining and oilfield sectors, including Halliburton, Schlumberger, Premium Gold Recovery Services, Baker Hughes, Expro Group and Step Oil Tools, and works on mine sites in Kalgoorlie, Wiluna and Boddington.

Marco helps complete testing and commissioning of hazardous and safe area equipment, and installing and testing emergency equipment. He also helps assemble industrial and mining equipment, including shakers, centrifuges, conveyors, stackers, feeders and electric pumps.

During his recent work at a gold mine, Marco helped his tradesperson install feeders, conveyors, agglomerators, stackers and starter panels.

Marco also works on urban industrial projects, including drilling equipment, EEHA equipment, starter panels for pumps and motors, heat trace equipment, instrumentation equipment and other industrial gear.

Marco has also helped hook up, test and complete detailed inspections on equipment used for high risk environments, providing opportunities for him to investigate equipment and system functions, operation and safety.

Working well under pressure while delivering work safely and to a high standard, Marco has built on his solid electrical skills, has the ability to think on his feet to problem-solve, and demonstrates an exceptional work ethic.

Marco’s time with ESI Tech Group has given him diverse experience in diverse environments, and opportunities to learn and develop new skills.

“During his apprenticeship thus far, Marco has built a great foundation of electrical knowledge, on which he is bound to thrive, given his passion and excitement in the field. He is a bright and brilliant individual and an asset to our company. There is no doubt that Marco’s self-driven ways and positive attitudes will take him far in his electrical career,” – Gianni Formato, Operations Manager, ESI Tech Group
